Rosie and I are excited to be the new operators of Red Mango in Stony Brook. We have been asked by the corporate office to showcase our talents and launch some new creative ideas for the other franchisees to model.  We plan to bring a new marketing spin on the franchise with live web-tv food broadcasts on the internet, community/local charity fundraisers (proceeds go back to the charity 100%), local business networking events, open mic-night, psychic nights, comedy night, (all free of charge for the space). In addition, we have a full line of fresh vegetable and fruit juices, cafe sandwiches and smoothies along with the common yogurt goodies that the franchise offers.  Stop in and see us at 2350 Rte 347 (Nesconset Hwy) Stony Brook, NY

Long Island Trends Says The Staycation is What's Trending.

Posted on February 6, 2014 at 1:40 PM

I think it is a safe assumption that all or most of my fellow Long Islander’s have just about had it with winter. With two snowstorms down, and another one on the way, I think we could all use a break.

Like most of us you probably dream of traveling somewhere warm, and tropical, but with the economy the way it is, many of us will have to keep dreaming. I am here to tell you some great news. You may not be able to jump on the next flight to the Bahamas, but that does not mean you can’t spend a weekend relaxing.

I want to introduce to you a beautiful destination right under your nose. The East End of Long Island. While most people will not even consider venturing to these parts until Memorial Day Weekend, for a select few of us these parts of the Island make for a perfect weekend getaway year round. I know you are probably rolling your eyes right about now, but hear me out. The Hamptons are beautiful this time of year, and taking a short trip there will prove me right. There are so many benefits to winters in the Hamptons.

Let me start by stating one of the obvious benefits, less people. You know the ones I am talking about, the tourists, the City Summer homeowners who make the Hamptons come to life for two months out of the year. In winter though the East End is a serene, quiet place. The restaurants are quiet, with new winter menus of locally farmed foods, and wines. The Vineyards are cozy and always a fun time no matter what the weather. The sidewalks are wide open and stores are quiet offering more personal help, and lower prices. The scenery is gorgeous with a layer of untouched white snow.

If those are not enough reasons to try it out this winter, then here are some more. The best part is the prices. The bed & breakfast, and luxury hotels cut their prices in half if not more during these months. Travelers can enjoy a luxury room for a very fair price. Many of these hotels have indoor and outdoor fireplaces, and Jacuzzi tubs to accommodate guests on their quest for relaxation.

Before you get down on the weather, look on the bright side, you are living in one of the most desired travel destinations in the US. Give “East” a chance. Take the quiet drive (with no traffic might I add, during the Winter) stop by local deli’s, wineries, pick up a bottle of wine and some fresh fruits and head to the Hamptons, and enjoy your relaxing weekend of cozying up by roaring fires, eating gourmet meals and indulging in the scenery, and make the most of your Winter.

PS- Valentine’s Day is right around the corner….just saying. (For an amazing romantic dinner, check out Red Bar or 75 Main, two gourmet restaurants in Southampton, with food that is to die for and a romantic atmosphere.)

Cheers for Charity Cover Party

Posted on December 20, 2013 at 11:30 AM

The Milieu Magazine cover party was a huge success.  I am overwelmed with the love and support I recieved on Monday evening by my family, friends, and so many inspiring women.  We were able to collect an entire U-Haul truck with everyone's generous donations of food, toys, linens and supplies that were sent out to local Long Island charities.  My co-worker, Jeff described the energy of the night as "electrifying" which makes me ecstatic!  I really want people to feel good about giving back to those who are less fortunate. "Hundreds of people came to the event with a great need to help others, and that is what life is all about" Ula BluChip explained.  Seeing all the faces around the room set an impression on me and created a momory that will last forvever.  I truly feel like we were able to make a difference with the help of Milieu and I could not be more grateful for their support!

Thank you to everyone who came and to everyone who helped put the party together: Vincent's Clam Bar, Echo Agency, Harlan, The Tilles Center, Jerome Bell, Milieu Magazine, LI Press and the entire BluChip Team!  With their support, we were able to give toys, books, games and food to Angela's House, The Salvation Army,  and LI Head Start.  The biggest surprise of the night was when my clients (and friends), Michael Ardolino and John Fitzgerald came up to the micrpohone to give me two pink slippers.  They told me, in front of the crowd, that if I put them on, I could give $500 for each slipper to the charity of my choice.  Well, that blew me away.  Of course, I put them on immediately!  Later, we decided that we NEEDED to give to The Next CoverGirl, Jackie Hance who founded "Beautiful Me" in honor of her three deceased daughters.

I know I said it a lot but THANK YOU...and I hope everyone can understand the tears in my speech...many of you have touched my heart.

Straight From The South Bay Blog! - "Combat Negative Behaviors with Awareness."

Posted on December 18, 2013 at 10:40 AM

We loved this blog post on the South Bay Wellness Blog, titled "Combat negative behaviors with awareness." By Carole and Denise, Reidiant Light.

To begin to recognize negative behaviors, one can practice generating more awareness and insightfulness. After each experience, stop for a moment to recognize what occurred in the experience. When things do not turn out as positive as you would have liked, try to identify how things could have gone differently in order to achieve a better outcome. Here are some ways to do that:

a) Create a daily journal. Write down your experiences each day.

b) At the end of each week, review your journal.

c) After reviewing the journal weekly, make a list of what you do want and what you don’t want in your life.

d) Start to make these positive changes in your life. For example, take one thing you don’t like about yourself and start to create positive changes. Don’t move on to the next change until you have reached the results you desire. One day at a time. You are always in control over your life. Only you can make these positive changes. Hypnosis works so well to help you move forward in your life as long as you are active in working on the resolution.

This blog really helps us realize the power of positivity. It teaches us not to dwell on the negativity in life. Every hardship we may face can be a challenge, but one that can inspire growth and increased self awareness. Try new things, get inspired and start living a healthier, happier life!
